Dear sailor fellows,
I apologise to write in english but my italian is not very good.
Me and my companjon were about to purchage Nicolandra (Jan 2012 in Rep. Dominican), a beautiful ketch 42 S&S, only to find the boat abandoned.
The former owners had not payed her a visit for more than too years, leaving the boat not well protected in that tropical climat. I guess the owner was surprised himself about the bad state the boat was in, probabely unaware of the harsh climat and what it does to boats - as unfortunately happens to many boats that are left in the Carabbean unattended.
We had a contract, where the owners garantied that Nicolandra was in a good state, more or less ready to cross the Atlantic. We had already payed a sum in advance to garanty the selling.
What I would like to mention on this blogg, is not only that Nicolandra is in a poor state, but that the worners, Alessandro Graziani and Monica Giovannoni, refused to give back all the garanty-payment. This besides a clear contract where both parts agreeded that, if the state of the sailing boat was not as thought, that the contract would be canceled and the money returned.
I am sorry that this comment on the S&S forum is not a positive one, but I guess all members have an intress following S&S sailing boats history.
Best regards,
L. Linne
